How are you involved in education?

  • I am a 4-6th grade science and social studies teacher (6th grade HR) in beautiful Lambertville, NJ.

What’s your ideal classroom or school like?

  • My ideal classroom would have a large glass wall that could be used for writing/collaboration space. Storage space would be available too, so to make as much room for thinking in the main area. Built for thinking tables, chairs on wheels so furniture could be moved for the lesson. This classroom would back into a nature area for hands-on science lessons and social studies reenactments. Supplies, such as clay, paint would be available for creative thinking. Technology would be available for each student, preferably iPads, so we could be mobile at a moment’s notice to blog, take videos and use relative apps. Last but not least, in my ideal classroom you would see respectful communication, laughter and caring.

Have you ever attended an unconference before?

  • YES! I attended EdCamp Philly last year. Since then I have been to EdCamp SS and I am signed up for EdCamp Leadership. I also attended #140edu last August and EduCon in January.

  • Learning space design-How are teachers using their space in creative ways? Mentors for teachers (where do we find them?), The ups and downs of teaching middle school. PBL ideas that work and integrate technology in useful ways. How are tech oriented teachers integrating the arts into their lessons.
