Idea Board
What would you like to hear about at edcamp philly? What would you like to talk about? This is edcamp, so feel free to stray from “traditional” presentation models – what would really help all participants get the most out of each session? Share your ideas in the comments below. (Hat tip to edcamp detroit for this idea!)

I’d love to learn about how to create classroom blogs in math contexts. Also different forms of assessment that uses technology to make my life as a teacher easier.

I’m interested in learning more about how elementary teachers are using QR codes.
Me too! Would love to incorporate them into my classroom next year!
I’d like to talk with people about how to use Twitter effectively for backchannel discussion at the high school level, and also how to integrate smart phones into high school (science) classes (since the kids have them anyway). Oh yeah, and what are the best class blogs used for and how do you keep on top of that?
I’d love to talk about this too!
The future of the ipad…
I want to talk about how ipads are currently being used and how folks see the future of computing in k-12 education

“Like” — we are getting a slew of iPads, I need to see how they can be used effectively in elementary. We already have Mac laptops & wish we had more of those, but I want to meet people who are already using iPads.
Where to begin…? I’d like to hear about collaborative tools and “best practices” – sorry for the jargon. I’d like to hear about eReaders in the schools. I’d like to talk about rethinking time management to allow for collaboration with my colleagues!

How do early adopters think differently about pedagogy than those teachers who do not embrace technology?
Also, do the popular rubrics for successful facilitation of 21st century skills, such as NETS-T, capture what we need them to?
Thanks!

I would like to discuss grading policies and procedures for published work. I am having a difficult time with testing to get marks. My students need to demonstrate and explain an understanding and not memorization of what was completed.
Re-takes, do-overs, make-ups are permitted in all my classes. I would like to engage others to see where I stand. Understanding and ability to demonstrate are at the top of my list of what I want for my students.
Thanks,
Gene Carboni
I would love to talk about strategies building buy-in for tech integration for those who might be “tech phobic” or “tech resistant”
I’d love to hear everyone’s top five sites or programs for elementary content areas. A share session.

I’d like to have a conversation led by admins and/or anyone responsible for PD about utilizing the unconference model for district PD. We may wish to Skype some admins into the session.

!Like! After a couple of edcamps it is hard to go back to standard PD. ‘nuf said.
Hello! I would enjoy a session of brainstorming around how teachers are integrating their IWB into their lessons.
I am currently finishing my masters in education technology and lead a lot of the professional development in my district on IWB, Google Docs and web 2.0.. But I don’t get a chance to hear how _others_ are using all these tools in their classroom.
I’d also enjoy a discussion from other teacher educators about the strategies, language and assessment tools that work best for them with the PD they facilitate.

Hello! When will we find out what sessions will be offered on Saturday? This is my first unconference so I am new to the protocol. Thanks!
Hi Melanie!
We will finalize the schedule on the morning of edcamp. That’s the beauty of the event – no one knows until then!
See you Saturday!

I, too, (like Arlen above) want to talk about rethinking time management to allow for collaboration.
I’d like to hear about how to break out of the restraining factory-style roster format.
I’d like to hear from people at schools that implement project-based learning in a way where teachers collaborate and fulfill requirements for multiple “content” areas.
…and finally, I’d like to know where this is being implemented so I can apply for a job there…
Maybe we’ll get to collaborate tomorrow! 8^}
I’d love to organize/lead a conversation about getting a 1:1 up and running through creative strategies.
Count me in on the 1:1 Conversation. I can give a LOT of insight from a “resistant” perspective

I’m happy to lead a discussion on how districts can get started with hybrid and fully online programs outside the normal VHS/Consortium model.

I’d be interested in a discussion of how libraries can show what they do and make an impression on the policy-makers.
I’d also be interested in a discussion of grading: what grades are, why they are used, and whether we need them.
Deven Black´s last [type] ..Dirty books!
Oh Deven…the whole idea of grades and motivation HAS to be discussed. How do you get kids to work for something OTHER than “the grade”
Thanks for bringing this up! Will be GREAT to see you….

Here Here, Devon! Why do librarians have to push when we should be pulled?
