Let’s get connected!
One of the most powerful elements to any event is connecting with other educators. The very idea for edcamp philly didn’t even exist until the Organizers attended Barcamp Philly back in November, which is the very first time that we all met in person! Even though we had never met in person before, we still connected beforehand to brainstorm ideas for a session we wanted to run and to plan out our day. We had so much fun tweeting back and forth and connecting that when we met that day it was like meeting old friends. We had such a great day!
We want you and everyone else coming to edcamp philly to have the same opportunity, to have the same great experience. So, we’ve cooked up a few ways for you to get connected to other attendees.
First, are you following @edcampphilly on Twitter yet? If not, it’s time to get on that! It’s a great way to find out what’s going on and who we’re talking to!
Not on Twitter yet? You can always become a fan on Facebook! It’s an easy way to get news from us as part of your regular facebooking, and you can also jump right in and start discussions on the page. Right now, we have started a couple discussions: one for people to volunteer to help out on the day of the event, and another one for people to post Twitter handles so you can find new people to follow.
Not on Twitter or Facebook? We also have a page on the official Barcamp wiki that’s freely editable. There’s space for people to volunteer and to make suggestions for presentation topics!
Last but not least, we want to start featuring our awesome attendees on this blog. We want to connect with you! Share a little bit about yourself on a regular feature we’re unimaginatively calling “Meet the edcampers!” If you would like to be featured on the page, please fill out this Google form.
